SafeTGA at the Tower Grove Better Block Project

This event has already occurred.

On Saturday May 10 from noon to 4 the Better Block Project transformed a block of Morganford Avenue into a bustling pedestrian and commercial destination with music, art, and food. SafeTGA participated and exhibited a collection of photographs and testimonials to showcase the diversity of pedestrians and cyclists in the Tower Grove neighborhood.

On May 10th, commercial vacancies on the 3200 block of Morganford were brought to life with pop-up stores, restaurants and entertainment venues featuring art, authors, fashion design, music, dance, crafts, food, and beer. Outdoor café seating was installed and a vacant lot will be transformed into public space with classes and information on sustainability, a Stray Rescue adoption event, and a canned food drive benefitting Operation Food Search. The streetscape was transformed to promote safe walkability and biking with sidewalk bump-outs, bike “sharrows”, and a permanent crosswalk.

The Better Block Project created quick, inexpensive, high-impact changes to show the potential to create a livable, vibrant community and lead to permanent solutions for the area. SafeTGA was proud to join in this effort.
